The Priority of Prayer

Mar 6, 2011

Welcome to OneLife Ministries, an online, interspiritual-integral ministry of Arem Nahariim-Samadhi and Love Light Fellowship. This site is here to lead you into a heart experience of Divine Presence, Who is Love. We recognize “that of the Sacred in each one” and celebrate the diversity of expressions of our Oneness in Grace. We are for peace and nonviolence, and equal rights and justice for all. I hope persons of varied wisdom paths will find inspiration here. Welcome!

A classic hymn from the Christian tradition, sung by George Beverly Shea, who led music at Billy Graham meetings for many years:

Entering the Inner Sanctuary

Enter this sanctuary time by settling down, becoming quiet, and breathing deeply a few breaths. Remind yourself you are in the Presence of Love. This place you are entering, within, is the inner Temple. Here, you are One with Spirit and all persons, and Nature. You may use a mantra, or prayer phrase, follow the breathing in-and-out, or witness the arising and falling of all around you as the manifestation of universal-Grace. Enjoy these moments of Quiet and come out when you are ready. The following video is provided, for those who would like meditative music to accompany your Quiet contemplation:

Namaste' … The Sacred in Me Bows in Reverence to the Sacred in You ...

Prayer music, here taken from the Hebrew Scriptures, or the Christian Old Testament, Psalm 51, A Hymn of Confession:

* * *

The famed evangelist Billy Graham told of the priority of prayer, giving an example from the business world:

I heard about a young president of a company who instructed his secretary not to disturb him because he had an important appointment. The chairman of the board came in and said, "I want to see Mr. Jones." The secretary answered, "I'm terribly sorry, he cannot be disturbed; he has an important appointment."

The chairman became angry. He banged open the door and saw the president of his corporation on his knees in prayer. The chairman softly closed the door and asked the secretary, "Is this usual?" And she said, "Yes, he does that every morning." To which the chairman of the board responded, "No wonder I come to him for advice."

Prayer can take many forms. This includes written prayers, sung prayers, chanting, prayer dancing, spontaneous prayer, meditation, contemplation, walking a labyrinth, ... Prayer, however we practice it, is the priority spiritual practice in walking a spiritual Path.
